A: is used before consonant sounds words. Ex: a dog, a cat. a bike, a home, a university, a european, etc. (the "u" and "eu" before the words university and european sound as "you". For this, you need to use "a" , not "an" as article.
An: is used before vowel sound words. Ex: An apple, an orange, an hour, etc.
(the "h" before hour is silent. For this, you should use "an", not "a".
We use the to specify thing and a to generalize things.
Ex: Do you have a car? (whatever car).
The car is over there. (i know the car).
The is used with superlative adjectives.
Ex: The most beautiful, the biggest, etc.
The is used with the expressions "go to" the.
